Blowout – Colleen Cross

book blurb:

A Sinister Crime Lies Deep Beneath The Water…

A Katerina Carter Fraud Legal Thriller

On fraud investigator Katerina Carter’s trip to a remote island aboard a luxurious yacht, she suspects the boat’s slick and charming owner is hiding a dark secret. With her cunning instinct for sniffing out malevolent cons, Kat tries to warn her friends that something is very wrong with their host and that his moneymaking scheme smells fishy.

And why is she only one who thinks he’s not being completely honest?

While exploring the island, Kat and her friends research the rumors of a sinister cult, the Aquarian Foundation, and search for buried treasure. The cult swindled people out of their money and now the same situation is starting to eerily echo their present circumstances. That is if Kat can prove to the others that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. . .

When Kat’s warnings fall on deaf ears, she uncovers a horrifying truth that will place those closest to her in mortal danger. Now it’s a race against the clock for Kat to expose a killer before he strikes again.

Blowout, the third book in the Katerina Carter Fraud Thriller series, appeals to crime thriller fans of James Patterson, John Grisham, and Michael Connelly.

My thoughts:

Welcome back to book three of this brilliant series and with each book it keeps getting better.

Normally out heroine is on the outside of the case trying to solve it, not this time, unfortunately this time around she finds herself right slap bang in the middle of it all.

I really enjoyed the direction change of this one , it was still a fraud thriller but this time it had a pinch of murder mystery thrown in.

And which each book the relationships between our characters becomes realistically stronger which I think is one of the many things that makes this series so popular and keeps bringing me back.

And as each story is told I love finding out a wee bit more about everyone that I didn’t know before

I don’t talk about the villains in these stories much but this one I was drawn to, suave, charming and nearly got away with it.

We welcome back long time voice of this series Petrea Buchard who again does an amazing job of narrating this slightly different story.

This series is really growing on me and Colleen Cross is quickly becoming a firm favourite of mine with Petrea becoming a favourite narrator, I will be back with book four soon but will have a couple of reviews in between so be patient.
