The Escape – C.L Taylor

CLTAYlOR

Book Blurb:

“When a stranger asks Jo Blackmore for a lift, she says yes, then swiftly wishes she hadn’t. The stranger knows Jo’s name; she knows her husband, Max, and she’s got a glove belonging to Jo’s two-year-old daughter, Elise. What begins with a subtle threat swiftly turns into a nightmare as the police, social services and even Jo’s own husband turn against her. No one believes that Elise is in danger. But Jo knows there’s only one way to keep her child safe – run. ”

My Thoughts:

Having read the previous two books and loved them, this was my first audiobook of her’s , and let me tell you that it did not disappoint.

I loved the story of this one and how it really makes you question the everyday, the people you meet, the people you trust.

C.L Taylor has a brilliant way of bringing to life the fears and doubts we think about and the dark and private ones we don’t.

How well do we know our husband/wife? poor Jo clearly didn’t.

I love how this very sinister situation could easily happen to someone, even you it’s a terrifying look at real life dancing with fiction.

The narrator for this journey is Katie Scarfe, another new name but I liked her steady delivery and she keeps the story rumbling along nicely.

I do have this in paperback as well but if you have never taken the plunge with C.L Taylor or an audiobook then I would recommend this as a place to start.
